A Statistical Survey of Internal Medicine Patients


Abstract
The interviews with 50 parents whose children are admitted to the S.N.U.H
from August 1st 1976 to September 30th disclosed following results. The interview were carried on a predetermined questionnaire to evaluate the emotional reactions of parents and most of the children were pediatric patients.
1) The reaction of the parents to the disease of their children did not show any significant difference according to the age of children.
2) When their children were diseased, the reactions of the parents among different age groups did not show any significant difference.
3) The degrees of understanding of the parents on the diseases of their children did not show any significant difference, although the educational level of the parents were quite variable.
4) The differences between their social milieu also did not make any significant difference in the understand of their children¢¥s diseases.
5) - The most concerned subject of the parents was the recovery of their children.
6) Most of the parents are disappointed for the nurses to wake up their sleeping children to check vital signs and give injection, and not to share enough time for their children.
